Mike Robinson

Driven by a passion for helping others, Mike Robinson is one of our most highly experienced members of the team when it comes to working in the dairy industry.

He’s been around farming and sales all his life, originally starting out in sheep and beef before moving into dairy farming in Southland. He says he found the transition from the farm to working for FIL as “relatively easy”, but reckons he’s gained “more knowledge working for FIL” than all his years spent on farm.

“You often know what to do, but don’t know why you are doing it when you’re working”, and that’s why Mike takes his role at FIL very seriously. “Education is a big factor” when it comes to helping farmers and with his specialist knowledge of mastitis prevention and animal health he can quickly diagnose milk quality issues, recommend solutions and give real-life practical advice.

Mike’s spare time is usually spent with his family, however he still has hasn’t retired his Red Bands just yet - with beef cattle and purebred shorthorn calves on his 20-acre block.
